I'm GM Max Illingworth. While I'm a Grandmaster now, I still remember what it was like to be starting out in chess...

My Story
I've helped many, many chess players below 1600 get to a 1600+ level.
My journey helping players like you began in primary school, where I would play against my teammates (and show them what to play instead), so that we could win the school tournaments and the trophies :)
But this curriculum will work at least as well if you're an adult chess improver (like me).
Why I'm Qualified To Be Your Mentor
I've gone through the process of learning things 'from scratch' many times - be it marketing, poker, computer games, YouTube, high performance coaching...
And when you are continually learning new things, you quickly pick up on what gets you to a solid competitive level quickly and effectively, and what is a waste of time.
Returning to chess, I've also played tens of thousands of games online against players like you - meaning, I know exactly what mistakes players of your rating are making.
That means I know what you need to do to beat them.
I know what's deciding most of your games, just based on your online or over-the-board ratings.
And I know what you need to focus on (and how to develop those key skills) to get to the next level fast.

How This Works
That's because we've divided it into eight simple levels (and it will be quite fast for you to get through each level - like in a video game):

- Level 4: I'm Winning, But Don't Know How
- Level 5: Tactics Are Fun!
- Level 6: Attacking Is Fun!

- Level 8: Chess Thinking Made Easy
As you can see, each level focuses on what is deciding most of your games at your level.
And when you have mastered that crucial skill, you 'level up' your game :)

The Old Way Vs. The New Way
In the past, the only way to take this fastest path to a 1600+ chess rating was to have private lessons with me.

I didn't know if things would work out with the girl I changed my flights last-minute to meet in Vietnam back in 2018 (but she wouldn't have become my wife if I didn't take that shot).
I didn't know I would become a Grandmaster by discontinuing university (but I knew I'd be miserable if I didn't).
Sometimes, you just have to take a chance on what your heart wants, and back yourself to do what it takes to succeed.
